To become a Diplomate, Dr. Plocheck, who graduated from
Baylor College of Dentistry and completed her pediatric dental residency at
Case Western Reserve University, rst successfully completed a daylong
written examination in Chicago. The next phase involved documenting
ideal patient care to the board examiners. For each case study, Dr. Plocheck
submitted written diagnoses, treatment plans, medical and dental histories,
X-rays, photographs, progress notes, health history updates, orthodontic
models when necessary, correspondence with other medical specialists, and
follow-up visits.
WE ARE FAMILY. Front row (left to right):
Julie Dusza, Diana Dobson, Sherry Reaves, Leticia Ortega,
“You have allowed me to be the kind of mother that I want to be,” says part-time dental hygienist Lou McDowell who has been with the ofice eleven years. Lillian Awbrey, a long-term employee and former patient in our practice, is job-sharing the role of clinical coordinator with Heather Bartko, who started with the ofice twelve years ago as a high-school intern. Heather is the mother of two children, the youngest a three-year-old daughter. Lillian is the mother of a three-year-old girl. Heather and Lillian’s beautiful little daughters have already had their rst preventive dental visits. Sonia Deleon, who gave birth to a son in May, and Julie Dusza, whose youngest boy turns one-year-old this month, also returned to the ofce after the birth of the latest additions to their families. Sonia and Julie each have two sons. Two of our dental assistants Shalise and Chanda are also students at Tarrant County College. Roni is back! Veronica Copeland, now a dental hygienist, worked with us as a dental assistant fteen years ago before marrying and moving out of state. We are thrilled to have her back “home” in our ofice. Roni returned to Fort Worth with her two daughters following the untimely death of her late husband, Danny.
Ofice consultant, psychologist Sy Ogulnick, still
visits the practice regularly to conduct interpersonal communications
seminars with the doctors and staff. Based in Reno, Nevada, Sy has been
working with our ofice for over 25 years. He helps us maintain an open and
nurturing work environment for staff, patients, and parents.
In 2004, Dr. Guiatas graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry, receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, she was on the Dean's Honor List 2000-2004, was an elected member of the Odontological Honor Society, participated in the Pediatric Dentistry Departmental Summer Honors Program, and received academic scholarships. She was a member of the Dallas County Dental Society, Texas Association of Women Dentists, Student Council, and the Student Research Group. She presented her research at the American Association of Dental Research in 2002 and 2003, and her findings have been published in several journals. Following dental school, Dr. Guiatas was accepted for specialty training at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where Dr. Weiner completed his residency. This two-year program enabled her to pursue her interest in pediatric dentistry. She gained valuable experience and knowledge in oral/conscious sedation, pediatric dental trauma, and special-needs dentistry. She was also a member of the cleft palate team at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Guiatas is board eligible with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, having successfully completed the written portion of the exam. Dr. Guiatas, as well as Dr. Weiner and Dr. Plocheck, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Fort Worth District Dental Society. She is excited to be an associate in the office that inspired her career choice.
Fort Worth Pediatric Dentistry is providing a new service called T-Link. This system allows patients to access appointments and account information 24 hours a day via a secure Internet connection, or by telephone. T- Link allows online payments and also provides appointment reminders via e-mail. Our staff will be happy to assist you with the quick and easy signup process, which can be completed over the phone or at your next office visit. Click here to access your account and/or appointments through T-Link.
Our office has switched to digital X-rays. This new technology enables the practice to provide quality radiographs at reduced settings. Digital radiography also allows us to process X-rays without the chemical waste that is a byproduct of conventional X-ray developing.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS JOB-SHARE. Five of the six dental hygienists pictured above Roni, Stacey, Valerie, and Lou in the top row and Anne (front left) are part-time employees. Lisa, who has worked full-time for a number of years, will soon switch to a three-day-a-week schedule when she goes back to school at Texas Women's University.
